Sarah Palin at the Iowa State Fair
- August 12, 2011
Sarah Palin made a surprise show at the
Iowa State Fair in Des Moines on August 12, 2011, one day
before the influential Iowa Republican Straw Poll and one.
Sarah Palin's appearance at the fair, which is one of the biggest in
the nation, drawing 100,000 people a day and at a time when the
state is overrun with media trucks and reporters, have refueled
speculation that she still
may get into the presidential race for 2012.
Palin was mobbed by fans and reporters. At one point, CNN's
Don Lemon got near and Palin answered quite a few questions
giving unrehearsed and candid answers. They discuss the
Ames debate, her potential run for president in 2012, a
supposed "rivalry" between she and Michele Bachmann (which
she calls ridiculous) and other issues.
"A lot of people are pitting you and Michele
Bachmann against each other. Do you think that's fair? - Don Lemon
That's so passe. Just because there may
happen to be two women in the race, that they would, as Michele
had put it once, get in the mud and engage in some cat fighting.
That's ridiculous. It's kind of even a sexist notion
to consider that the two women would be kind of duking it out.
No, if I'm gonna be duking it out I'm gonna be duking it out
with the guys!"
